Suzanne Glémot
Ramène-Moi (Bring Me Back)
Media: Natural indigo dip-dye progression on handmade Chancery; wooden boards, linen thread
Artist Statement:
I am from a small coastal village situated on the northern shores of Brittany, in France. Images of the sea are frequently present in my mind as I produce work through a variety of time-intensive practices — typically bookbinding, natural dyeing, and artist bookwork. Rendered in natural indigo, "Ramène-Moi" is a meditation on the color blue as a substitute for the ebbing tides of the coastline I hold dear, an attempt to capture a fascination with both a color and a place.
