Tracing the Moraine
Media: pigment, string, handmade paper
Artist Statement:
The rocks in New England suggest to me endless patterns to translate into paper pieces. I make kozo that I pigment, then pour onto a large screen, often using the hose to spray different textures onto my pulp. I embed strings or other linear elements to add a drawing quality to the surface.
Biography
I graduated from Rhode Island School of Design as a painter and printmaker. I continued to live in New England, raising two sons and exploring various mediums like mural making and fabric wall hangings. I became interested in pulp painting as a painting alternative but soon was bewitched by Japanese fiber. Now I use a variety of pulps to cast, to dip nets into, or pour out in layers on large screens.
