Media: Bird netting dipped in pulp, thread

Artist Statement:
I use various nets in my work, those that I weave myself, but often plastic ones made for commercial purposes. The pulp sticks easily to bird netting, creating a strange, translucent fabric. For this piece I had dipped different shapes into pulp, that when dry, I then hand sewed together.

Biography

I graduated from Rhode Island School of Design as a painter and printmaker.  I continued to live in New England, raising two sons and exploring various mediums like mural making and fabric wall hangings.  I became interested in pulp painting as a painting alternative but soon was bewitched by Japanese fiber.  Now I use a variety of pulps to cast, to dip nets into, or pour out in layers on large screens.
