Statement: The creation of this work included the following processes – pulp blending, sheet forming, freezing and unfreezing, drying, spraying, rolling, coloring, cutting, tying. Many of these processes were used repeatedly, interchangeably.

Statement: This work is about finding one's inner peace and balance through experiencing nature with all five senses.
Beyond the Mind’s Eye (2021)

Statement: This work is a large scale three-dimensional installation that includes handmade printed paper and paper objects, colored light, a video projection, sound recordings and reflective water. The research revolves around psychoanalysis, neuroscience, spirituality, metaphysics, hypnosis, hallucinations, religion and faith, altered states of consciousness, meditation and ritual practices.
I am Carmen Oak - a non-binary European who lives and works between Europe and the U.S. My education consists of a BA in Law, an LLM in Public International Law and Human Rights, an MA in European Studies: Transnational and Global Perspectives, a Certificate for completing three years of Painting, Drawing and Composition Foundation Courses, an MFA in Printmaking and a Diploma of Higher Education in Fine Art and Art History.
I am a full time artist who works in the areas of printmaking, papermaking, bookbinding, painting and photography. I have had four solo exhibitions.
