Traces
Media: Paper pulp, wire and colored pencil
Statement:
Traces of pulp define the piece by dipping the woven grid of wire into overbeaten abaca The pulp adhered to intersections of the wire, softening the edges and filling the grid pattern. The blue veil with the square cutout defines a particular pattern of openings on the surface.
Tracing
Media: Handmade paper and colored pencil
Statement:
Tracing refers to the marks as an overall pattern is created by using a template on the surface of the handmade paper. The grid pattern repeats across the surface using yellow and orange colored pen. Specific areas are highlighted in blue to create areas of emphasis.
Traced
Media: Handmade paper and wire
Statement:
Traced refers to process as one thing informs another. The 3D wall installation references a grid pattern established in the earlier piece titled Traces. Traces of pulp were gathered on a wire grid. By tracing the open spaces a pattern was established. The pattern translated into a 3D wall installation.
