Impressions of Loss
Media: Book, handmade paper
Statement:
Impressions of Loss tells a story of grief and loss by creating a visual representation of my deceased family members who were alive at my birth. It takes information that was recorded and presented digitally (as a family tree) and creates a sculptural book of hand-dyed thread and handmade paper.
Flow and React #1
Media: Cotton rag paper
Statement:
Flow and React is a series of two-sided cotton rag paper pieces made using blowout techniques. #1 is an abstract representation of ideas shared widely on social media, depicting the flow of various ideas as square snapshots, each of which only shows one unique glance at the entire concept.
Flow and React #3
Media: Cotton rag paper
Statement:
Flow and React is a series of two-sided cotton rag paper pieces made using blowout techniques. #3 reacts to familiar music playback technology and considers the overlap between digital interfaces and imagery that was originally analog. The physicality of the piece also hearkens to the overlap between digital and analog.
